COVID-19 Policies

Responsibility

It is up to us to protect our curling community. We all must do our part to keep curling healthy and safe for everyone.

Illness

If you feel sick in any way, including shortness of breath, fever, cough, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell, please stay home. Any participant showing signs of illness will be asked to leave.

Off the Ice

  • Locker rooms will be closed. Please plan to curl in the clothes you arrive in.
  • Masks are required at all times.
  • Maintain social distancing at all times.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided, please use it upon arriving at the club.
  • All equipment must be sanitized before and after each game.
  • Only authorized RCC personnel should handle ice equipment.
  • Try to minimize time spent at the arena before and after curling.

On the Ice

  • Hammer and stone colors will be predetermined and noted on the draw sheets posted at the arena.
  • No hand shakes, elbow bumps, etc. A simple "Good curling" or "Good luck" will suffice.
  • Adjacent sheets must start at opposite ends.
  • Only one sweeper per rock. No relaying the sweep (changing sweepers half way down). Skips may not assist in sweeping, and non delivering skips may not sweep beyond the tee line.
  • All non delivering team members must maintain social distancing on the sidelines.
  • The non delivering team skip shall not enter the house until the opposing skip leaves.
  • Use feet or brooms to move rocks out of play after ends. Only use your hands on your own rocks.
  • Only skips should interact with the scoreboard. Skips will wipe down the scoreboards after play.
  • When measuring, remove your gloves, disinfect your hands, measure, and disinfect your hands again.

These guidelines may be amended at any time as warranted by the current best practices.
